Rare Delightful Epicure 20 Vintage Audiophile Speakers - Incredible Sound!
Rare Delightful Epicure 20 Vintage Audiophile Speakers with real walnut veneer. These things just sound STUNNING! And the looks are simply breathtaking.
The Epicure 20 and 20+ (and their stablemate, the EPI 201) were Winslow Burhoe's best early attempts to get his speakers to "blend in" to the room using his "module" design of woofers and tweeters that were engineered to complement each other. These featured an eight inch woofer and one inch concave dome tweeter on both the front facing baffle and a precisely angled top panel. Designed to be placed against the wall, and on the floor, the sound would simply wrap up and around the cabinet and flow into the room.

These are keepers. They dig deep and play just about anything I throw at them. They are 4 ohm speakers, so an appropriate amp is needed. (I've got plenty that will handle this, if you want to upgrade.)
All speakers working fantastically. At one stage one of the woofers has been replaced with a JBL I believe. Seems pretty well matched, but if you're a purist you can actually obtain suitable replacement speakers from the US here: https://www.humanspeakers.com/e/parts/001.htm
Happy to store these indefinately if buyer makes full payment within 3 days of auction closing, and can possibly deliver to anywhere between Wellington and Whangarei in early 2025 for $60 as I'm heading north on a break.
Dimensions (HWD) in cm: 74 x 47 x 30
